‘Remembrance of the Fallen’ for Catholic veterans

The Richmond Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus held a “Remembrance of the Fallen” for Catholic veterans at Holy Cross Cemetery, Richmond, on June 10.

Five Catholic veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice were honored to mark Memorial Day:

• 2Lt. Milton Ruppert Beirne

• Pvt. Frederick Peter Hargadon

• Technical Sgt. Richard Junius Royall Jr.

• PFC Robert Edward Seelmann

• Corporal John Michael Steinbrecher Jr.

The ceremony included a wreath-laying at each veteran’s gravesite. Attendees prayed one decade of the rosary at each gravesite. Deacon Christopher Weyer, a seminarian for the diocese, presided over the prayers.

Members of the Richmond Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, including four members of the Color Corps., were in attendance, along with family and friends.
