Major milestone: Charles Anderson, a founding member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, Roanoke, a World War II veteran and past Grand Knight of his Knights of Columbus Council, turns 100 years old on Monday, Feb. 8.
Good people continuing to do good things: The Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, with assistance from members of St. Matthew Parish and Church of the Ascension, are in their second year of operating the St. Clare Home for residents in need. Sisters Everline Mboga, Jackline Mayaka, Anne Celestine and Scholastica Kumari all hold full-time positions in the health care fi eld. They pool their income to aid the poor. Their religious community is based in Kenya.
