When Peter Parker (voice of Yuri Lowenthal) and his girlfriend relocate to Europe, it’s time for Peter’s similarly gifted protege, young Miles Morales (voice of Nadji Jeter), to take center stage as New York’s web-slinging, rooftop-swinging defender. His protection will be needed since a gang war has broken out and there’s the usual steady flow of petty crime to combat as well. Whoever is spinning the silk, Spider-Man remains a positive role model, and Miles demonstrates his understanding of the importance of equity, protecting the innocent, honoring his family and offering opportunities for reconciliation and redemption. He also restricts himself to punches and kicks when confronted by the lethal means his adversaries employ. The restrained depiction of his dustups makes this exciting game possibly acceptable for older teens. Playable on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Mostly stylized combat violence with mild blood effects, a few drug references, occasional crude and crass language. The Catholic News Service classification is A-III — adults. The Entertainment Software Rating Board rating is T — teen.
