Our Mission
“To chronicle the Catholic story so that the faithful will be knowledgeable about the work of the Church locally, nationally and internationally, and to provide instruction and inspiration that will assist them in their witness to the Gospel and in deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ.”
How We Fulfill It
Having served the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for more than 90 years, The Catholic Virginian is an integral part of the outreach done by the diocese’s Office of Communications.
In print, the biweekly publication reaches approximately 80,000 Catholic households, chronicling Catholic life with a blend of local, national and international news and features.
Our columnists, including Bishop Barry C. Knestout, nourish your spiritual life, answer questions about Catholicism and offer reflections on Scripture.
Our website is updated regularly to provide you with news, features, photos and videos. We provide a Catholic perspective not only on our Church, but on the events of our nation and world that impact our daily lives.
In print and online, The Catholic Virginian informs, instructs and inspires you in order to help you grow in your love of Jesus Christ and one another.
If you are not a member of a Diocese of Richmond parish, the investment in a subscription is $15 per year. When subscribing, please send your check to the attention of Ashly Krebs, 7800 Carousel Lane, Richmond, VA 23294. Please make it payable to The Catholic Diocese of Richmond.
