First time in 50 years (above, below): On Sunday, June 22, for the first time in approximately 50 years, Mass at St. Patrick, Lexington, concluded with a Corpus Christi Procession on the streets surrounding the church, honoring the Blessed Sacrament on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It was led by Father J. Maxwell Appiagyei, pastor, who blessed the city at the solemn benediction that followed on the church’s piazza, marking the end of the parish’s celebration of the National Eucharistic Revival.

Yearlong celebration underway (below): A year of celebrations is underway for the 50th anniversary of Church of the Redeemer, Mechanicsville. The kick-off weekend took place in May, when the parish also celebrated Father Jim Cowles’ 39th anniversary of his ordination. Pictured with Father Jim are Meredith and Adele Minter, who helped found the parish in 1976.

St. Charles Knights’ ‘Family of the Year’ (Below): Deacon Don Donovan, who serves at St. Charles Borromeo, St. Charles, and his wife, Maureen, were honored by the Knights of Columbus Council #14263 as Family of the Year. The award was presented at Mass on Sunday, June 15.
Deacon Donovan and Maureen are in charge of the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) at St. Charles Borromeo, and participate in faith formation programs and other parish ministries, said council Grand Knight Knight Bob James.
“They are kind and generous, and they welcome everybody that walks into the church,” said James. “They are the Christian life in action.”
