Justice Walk

The youth of the Catholic churches of the Roanoke Valley invite friends and families to join them on their fifth annual Good Friday Justice Walk through downtown Roanoke. This contemporary praying of the Stations of the Cross begins at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of RAM House, 824 Campbell Avenue, and will journey through the critical moments of the the life, suffering and death of Christ in the here and now as we remember the poor, the discriminated against, and others treated unjustly in today’s society.

The walk will be held rain or shine. It should take about an hour and a half. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable item for St. Francis House food pantry.

Divine Mercy Novena

In preparation for Divine Mercy Sunday, three Richmond locations are offering the following times for recitation of the Divine Mercy Novena.

Ukrainian Catholics

St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church will celebrate Easter Divine Liturgy (Mass) on Saturday, April 15, at 5 p.m. at the Comboni Missionary Sisters’ Holy Angel Chapel, 1307 Lakeside Ave., Richmond. Blessing of Easter baskets will follow Divine Liturgy. Liturgy and homily in Ukrainian and English. For more information call, 804-323-0033 or 301-421-1739.

Spring musical

The St. John’s Troubadors of St. John parish, Highland Springs, will present the musical “Damn Yankees” on Friday and Saturday, April 28-29, at 8 p.m. at the church, 813 W. Nine Mile Rd. Tickets are $7. The cast includes members from age three to 70, with some of the performers having been with the Troubadors since 1994. Spring gala

Saint Gertrude High School of Richmond will hold a Spring Gala on Friday, April 28, at the Tuckahoe Woman’s Club, 4215 Dover Road from 7 to 11 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided with music by “Time for Change.” Tickets are $75. Choral concert

The Virginia Choral Society will have its final concert this season at St. Joan of Arc Church in Yorktown on Friday, April 28 at 8 p.m. Advance tickets ($12, regular and $10, Sr/Mil/Stu) are available through VCS members or by calling Mike Asbury at 757-593-9544. Tickets will be available at the door for $15 and $12.
